New pickups from E-bay and Steve Hayden

I am due for a session to organize my coins so when I find the CCC token I will get an image of it. I also plan to find some other goodies, some of which I do have multiples of.

Thanks Jeff, I'd like to see it. By the way, do you have any of Maringer's "No Oil Wars" counterstamps? I picked up a copy of his other stamp a couple of months ago.

Thanks for clarifying Bruce. I just wasn't sure but I've seen dealers charge some pretty ridiculous for counterstamps. I now have a newfound appreciation to the pure history those coins have.

That's the beauty of them to me too kookoox10, the history. When were they issued, by whom, and for what reason. Every counterstamp I own has either been attributed by myself, another researcher, or at least an attempt has been made to do so. I enjoy the challenge and the "gotcha moment" when I've successfully completed a project.

Maybe worth more without the stamp?

My purchase yesterday is a completely different caliber compared to your counterstamps. I got this high grade Indian cent that has been mutilated with a "good for one $" stamp.

Have you seen this one before? I got it in a small group of coins this weekend.

 

Yes that is one of the ones I am looking for. I paid dearly for a lot of 100 of them on eBay back when production had just stopped due to broken dies. These were the last of his supply (I did not need that many but he was not selling them separately). I once calculated that I was sitting on about 15% of the total production.

In any case, I will definitely send you one when I find them (hopefully not much longer) and I should have some 1912 TITANIC coins finally ready by then as well.

 

Thanks Jeff, I'll be glad to get them. I'll see if I can scare up something to send you in return. I do have a personal stamp I got recently from a Mass. collector but I only have 1 example. He promised to strike some more for me when he gets his counterstamp setup in shape. I'll be sure to send one to you if I get any more. Glad you mentioned the "Titanic" stamp, I'd forgotten that one. It will go good with the Kansas Quarter.

I know of a similar stamp on an IHC that reads "Good Luck" Collect, but haven't seen this one before. I like your coin a lot. It's a nice neat stamp which is a bit unusual for one struck with individual letter punchs. I would guess it dates to maybe the 1920's at the latest. It looks like it was stamped on a nearly unc. coin and never used. This is what token collectors call a "good for". It was obviously meant to be used in some type of commercial establishment much like we use coupons in the grocery store today. It might sell for $10 but probably not much more. Great piece though. Thanks for posting it.
