Did Liberty lose a knife fight? I am not even sure it will go as high as your 62.

there's no AU choice in your poll. :(

It looks to me like there is a slight rub and luster disturbance in the very center of the obverse and at the top of Liberty's hair. The reverse is nice. It has a small die crack on the reverse at around 6 o'clock between the words One and Dollar.

The 1881 is found with both sharp strikes and weak strikes. The sharper strikes are definitely more desirable. If we assume that your coin is uncirculated, then it has a flat strike on the obverse and too many bag marks for anything above an MS-62 and I might hesitate before I agreed with even that. I'd be more comfortable at MS-61 if it's uncirculated.

I gave it a 62, but that was only because you didn't have a 61 in your poll.

Thanks Mike! I'd be surprized by AU....but I'm no expert in this series by any means...that's why I'm seeking more opinions. This coin has very, very strong luster and my grandfather seemed to only collect MS morgans. I'm more inclined to go with a weak strike over AU.

63 for cheek chatter. I see no field rub to indicate an AU grade as high-point rub is not enough to do it, IMO.
