I have a coin I have tried to research, but cannot find it! One side is a buffalo and says NICKEL, other side is Indian Head and says ONE 1877 PENNY. Anyone familiar with it?
It is a novelty item, not a coin. The gilding or plating has mostly worn off leaving the base metal exposed.
This is why "people"(one who shall be nameless) shouldn't be altering coins, like changing dates. It confuses new collectors.
