Just because some folks opinions differ, doesn't make anyone a grump. The OP asked for opinions, and that was what was given in a very civilized manner. No trash talking, just different points of view. My biggest issue with moderns is they keep making more of them. Your mileage may vary. Mike
IMO recession ended in mid 09 but thats' different subject. Anyway after from Oct 2008-Sept 09 coin values plunged drastically and i myself picked up a lot of rare coins at spot price.
From over on CU forum.... "IMPORTANT UPDATE: November 10, 2011. We have received the first submissions of the 25th Anniversary Coins. The mint sealed packaging includes a Certificate of Authenticity. That certificate lists all 5 coins. In that list the bullion coin with no mint mark is reported to be minted in either San Francisco or West Point. This information conflicts with earlier reports so PCGS contacted the mint directly. We were told by a mint official that while most of the no mint coins were minted in San Francisco there is no guarantee that all of the no mint coins were minted there. Consequently PCGS cannot label the no mint coins as (S) as originally planned. Those coins are still eligible for 25th Anniversary Labels and for First Strike according to the already published guidelines. We apologize for all the confusion."
I agree with the administator in that if you look in the past at the 2006 20th ann. sets you'll see that raw sets are routinely going for 3-4 times their issue price and the few that are still in unopened boxes for much much more. I would wager that these will be somewhat comparable to those figures in the future.
