the coin is certified by NGC. already buy from the coin company about two years ago , recently i sell it on ebay , someone tell me the coin is fake . so what can i do ? the coin up to 20000 dollars . the ngc will give me money back? thank you.
We would definitely need good, clear photos, not only of the coin, but also of the NGC slab. While it's possible that the coin is counterfeit, it is also possible that the slab is counterfeit, too. If the slab is a counterfeit, you would have no claim for compensation from NGC. Chris
Do you have any paper work like receipt when you buy it? please post some photograph of the coin/slab by ngc.
Hmmm? It's been more than 7 hours since the OP was asked to post photos and no response. Maybe he lives in the Orient and bought it in China. Chris
don't doubt about slab is not genuine ,it is certified by ngc company. the buyer show me up to 4 coin pictures about the same damage on the coin . i try to call the ngc company ask about it , the need me send the coin in to do Appearance Review service. but when i asked how much they will pay by the mistake , they don't want answer me . i keep the date purchased, the purchase price and the transaction amount..when i buy this coin the price is 8000 usd , right now is up to 20000 usd . did someone have done this before can help me ? what should i do ?
If NGC graded and encapsulated a counterfeit coin, it will be their responsibility to compensate you. But another possibility is that someone sold a counterfeit coin in a counterfeit NGC holder, and if that happened, it is not NGC's responsibility. If the coin and holder are counterfeit, you will need to get your money back from the company that sold the coin to you, not from NGC. It might help if you can post good pictures here. If not, you should send the coin to NGC so they can examine it.
^This. Either you would have to post a photo here for us to comment, or simply send the coin to NGC to evaluate. Its pretty rare for an Ebay buyer to be able to tell a coin is fake but NGC missed it, so I am guessing its a fake slab. If it it not NGC's slab, then they will not reimburse you since its the seller who sold you a fake coin and slab. NGC is only responsible for fake coins that they slabbed, which are very rare. Where did you buy this coin? Even slabbed I would never buy a western coin in China or much of the far east. Way too many fakes and fake slabs coming out of China. I see them often in Thailand, fooling tourists. Chris (2)
NO PHOTOGRAPH of the Coin/Slab by NGC by the way, what coin is it that you bought for 8 grand? Mr. JOHNHAO are you a chinese too? sound your handle as Hao is a chinese last name..confused< please share to us the serial number of NGC slab..if that possible? Thank you.
No need to be excluing anyone. All are welcome to post here Mr. Hao, and my post is simply informing you of your next course of action if you either wish for us to help you, or wish to pursue the matter with NGC. I would also say you should talk to who sold you the coin. Please people, I know we get upset at Chinese counterfeiters, but other Chinese people are ripped off by them as well. Even if there are 100, 1,0000, or 1 million counterfeiters of coins in China, that still means there are 1.4 BILLION non-counterfeiters who also can lose money by their actions. No need to be mad at all Chinese people. I know many kind dealers of Chinese coins who battle counterfeiters every day in their own business practices. Chris
If the coin is fake but the slab is real NGC will pay you compensation. They will not commit themselves to an amount until after they have a chance to examine the coin. Also I would not expect to get full retail value. You will probably be offered wholesale or a little back of wholesale. (If you decline their offer you run the risk of getting nothing.) If on the other hand the slab proves to be fake then you get nothing, and you pay for the review by NGC.
Judging from the lack of cooperation we're getting from Mr. Hao, he either doesn't want to listen to what we have to say (which isn't the first time this has happened!) or he's trying to run some sort of scam. I really prefer to give someone the benefit of the doubt, but he sure isn't making it easy. Chris
I'm not so sure that he even understands what he has been told. Based on his responses, it doesn't seem to me that he does.
