Something found by one of my online non-collector friends $5 Silver Certificate Series 1934D R18471182A lightly to moderately circulated She sent me a quick cameraphone pic: http://www.mediafire.com/i/?9jojdymjwzmdze6 I'll update once I get a higher-res image. I'm not sure what it's worth. If I decide I want it for my own collection, I'd be interested in an accurate valuation of how much I should pay her for it. I may end up selling it on her behalf, instead. Offers, anybody?
For as high as I'd personally pay for it, $10-$12. Don't quote me on it though I'm not too good with S.C.'s and USN's...
The only $5 SC I have is a 1953A F-A I valued at $10. I got it years ago, so I'm not sure what I actually paid for it. I'm not sure how its value would compare to the 1934D R-A anyway. I figured $10 was a lowball friend said she got it from one of her friends who is in turn backing out on the deal
I'm not sure what this note is worth, but a few bucks over face sounds reasonable. You know, I've heard of people still finding these notes, in circ. I think I read on another forum somewhere, that somebody got a 1930's series $5 SC in change, at the gas station! Talk about right place, right time.
