Sorry about the misfortune. I have to agree with the others that the dollar has been badly cleaned and it is likely XF.

A smart seller would take the coin back, regardless of return policy, or risk a SNAD and a negative.

"A few negatives" is not "excellent feedback". A negative can almost always be avoided through a little extra effort and decent customer service, even when dealing with a difficult buyer.

I hope you win with PayPal!

Not to be a jerk, but I would also recommend you learn to grade yourself sir. If you collect coins, this is probably the best thing you can do for yourself. Even slabbed coins have under and overgraded coins in them. Simply relying on them will save you some trouble, but you can still be had by buying for MS63 money a coin that should only be a 62, etc.

Personally, I would concentrate on getting a grading standards book, and going to shows and looking at lots and lots of coins. Only way I know how to grade is to look at hundreds or thousands of coins, and start to learn why one is higher than the other. Pics on a site like Heritage can help too, but I always prefer in person if possible, since photos never capture the entire coin, and the entire coin has to be judged to grade. HA photos could be a place to start, though.

Hope that helped, and you take it in the supportive manner it was meant.

Edit: Btw I hope you win with Paypal as well. That coin is demonstably not BU, and any collector not related to the seller would say the same thing.

I agree. I need to learn how to grade myself. But the picture mis-represented the coin anyway.

It is a rare picture that doesn't. Keep that in mind ;)

Exactly. You can hide a multitude of sins by photographing a coin in this manner........

I would consider that AU details. The 1935 can be had in ms63 certified for 100the or less.
