I ordered the 2011 Uncirculated Set from the US Mint and found it was mispackaged with the penny placed in with one of the quarters. Is it worth anything or should I return it to the US Mint?
Doubt it's worth too much but one heck of a conversation piece between collectors....... Welcome to the forum Jed. And I wouldn't return it.
Welcome to CT This is interesting as someone here found a Proof set with the same thing a extra misplaced cent
It's the coins that are being collected, not the packaging, labels or slabs. I could take two mint sets and switch coins and have another identical set as yours. Personally I would send it back and get a correct set.
Your right green18. Those are in that hard plastic bubble pack and not the hard case. It still won't give him any added value though.
It's not an extra penny, it just slipped into the quarter part of the sheet is all. To the OP, keep it. No premium because of it as it can happen quite by accident really.
I'd return it if you haven't exceeded the grace period. It adds absolutely no value to the set, and if you're trying to collect the best possible specimens of each coin, then it may have already impaired the quarter. Even if you considered selling it on FleaBay (Why, I don't know?) the bidiots there would have to be really, really intellectually-challenged (stupid!) to fall for it. Chris
