Saw this one on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Netherlands...955?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4842a019e3 Has anyone seen an off-center struck coin with what appears to be a separation seam? It looks pretty suspicious to me. Thoughts?
I've never seen one that looked like it had a seam, as if it's parts of two coins stuck together. Yea it is a spectacular error, especially for these early Dutch coppers.
It looks like they use a different type of collar than we do here, which is why the coin was almost cut in 2 by the strike.
I guess that makes sense why it looks so different and why I have never seen something like it. The price also ended much higher than for similar errors on other types of foreign coins. Must really be an unusual example.
