Anyone in the Austin, TX area that know of change makers that give you dollar coins instead of quarters? I was in DC about a year ago and loved the Metro change makers that gave dollars to use to buy tickets for the rail there. I got a Presidential Dollar album and wanted an easy way to get these to get the kid started on his own little collection. It'd be cool if there were just change makers like this in my area to obtain them, most banks in the area don't seem to really carry them. Buying these from dealers or even ebay (which if you do just find a regular circulated one, they still want more than a dollar along with shipping prices), they're either selling the proofs, uncirculated ones or rolls of the same type. Thanks for any input!
Try your local post office. I don't know whether it's still the case, but when I used to buy stamps from a vending machine I would always get dollar coins in change.
Have you asked your bank if they can order a box for you? If they will order them, that would be the best way to find a wide assortment of dates/mintmarks. Chris
Find a vending machine that accepts $5 notes. Put in a $5, wait until the machine accepts it, then hit the reject coin button. I have one at my work, and this is how I get my President / Native American / Susan B Anthony coins for face.
Well, I don't know if you travel on the interstate very often or not, but the only vending machine that I've ever seen that gave dollar coins was at a rest area.
The Capital One bank that I was in today said they could order boxes of the small dollar coins. The boxes would include Sacagawea, Susan B. Anthony, and Presidential dollar coins. If you have one in your area, you may want to stop by and ask.
