You saw a $1k bill at what shop? One you work in? That would be an interesting find. I had the chance to buy some high denomination notes once, I just didn't have the $. Can you post a picture/scan of the one you found?
It was the local coin shop. They had a 500 dollar bill in VF, and a 1000 dollar one in XF. I wish I had taken a photo, but I didn't.
This is off topic, but I just noticed that you are from Kitsap County. I was born and lived in Whatcom County for a signifcant time. I did spend quite a bit of time in Bremerton. I sure wish I could go back! It gets too hot for me down here in NorCal! Anyways, back on track. How much were they going for in those conditions?
I can't remember how much they were going for. He had just bought them off of another customer when I was in there. That's pretty neat you used to live around Whatcom. I live between Bremerton and Silverdale.
Yup I know where Silverdale is. Really nice. I know folks up there don't take kindly to Californian license plates, or so my family and I had to find out the hard way last time we all went up there together back in the day. I appreciate the constant lite drizzle versus down here where we get huge downpoors for 30 days of the year than the rest 100 degree days. I sure do miss it up there. The only thing I could live without is the snow, but I hear it doesn't snow up there anymore as bad as it did in the '90s. Really neat that you got to see those notes. I'd be curious just to see what they are going for. eBay isn't too great of a price check source for notes like these. BTW, nice to meet you. My name is Travis.
It's nice to meet you too. My name is Joey. You're right, the weather up here is pretty nice.Today it got pretty cloudy and I thought it was going to rain, but it didn't. What do you mean by they didn't take kindly to Californians? I think the price might have been 800 for the $500 bill, and 1500 for the $1000, but I can't quite remember. What city in CA do you live in?
I mean that they busted our windows, and spray painted on our car to 'go back to our ratrace'. Lol. Too bad they didn't realize that I was born there and had just as much of a right to 'be on THEIR country land' as they did. This happened in Bellingham when me and my family first moved back in the late '90s. Never did go up there again after all that. Too bad for their ignorance. $800 is a little high, IMO. But then again, do you remember what condition the notes were in? That does depend haha.
VF for the 500/XF for 1000. Wow, I wonder what Silverdale's problem was, LOL. I hope you don't mind if I add you as a friend on here.
Absolutely not. I'm always happy to make friends on here. I'm not going to allow my ignorance to steep as low as the people who vandalized my pops car hating on someone just because where they come from. It's like that in all states around, not just Washington. Although, I will say, Washington sent us the STRONGEST message out of all them. Everybody hates on California, I don't know why. Something to do with it being a rat race? I think thats reasonable priced then. They are becoming more scarce as time goes. Glad we can be friends, Joey. -Travis
Damn! ***drools*** They really gotta bring these denominations back. I just had some minor work done at my grandma's house that I paid for, and it just got done two days ago, and on the way to go to her house to see the finished product, I stopped in at the construction company, and gave them $500 in $100 bills, and I wish I could have given them a $500 bill, or, since the grand total for the work was actually $1,010, I wish I could have handed them a $1,000 bill and a $10 bill, and been done with it. I have a $500 bill I got off ebay that was $725 (plus $5 shipping) and it is in very nice condition. Unfortunately, as real as it looks, I'm not sure if it truely IS real or not, because I'm no expert, however, the place that sold it, claimed to be a coin shop, and the paper does have the little blue and red fibers running through it. I STILL need to get a $1,000 bill, and my dad always asks me "Are you going to take that $500 bill to a bank to see if its real?" but I think a coin and currency dealer would know more. Although the bill is in nice condition, I'm going to try to get a nicer one if I can cash the one in to the coin shop I deal with around here if my $500 bill is real, and try to get a really nice $1,000 bill, but I don't want them to be packaged. I want to be able to touch my big bills, even though I'd have to be careful with them so that I do not bend them, but I put all of my bills in those plastic sleeves that protect paper currency from creases. I'm looking to invest $1,500-$2,000 in a $1,000 bill. Would that get me a nice, crisp, almost perfect one? And would $1,000 get me a nice almost perfect $500 bill? Hey, does anyone here got a $5,000 or $10,000 bill? I KNOW I'll never have one of those!
Not just a $500 bill, I would really not be all that satisfied unless they added BOTH a $500 AND a $200 bill, just like the Euro folk have (even if the Euro IS worth more than the U.S. Dollar) But yeah, two $500s and a $10 would have been nice to give to the contractor as well.
