I was told by the mint it would be July or August at least. I believe that's about the time they were released in 2005. Someone who got lucky last year can correct me on that. Sgkee:whistle:
sgklee is probably right on, I received 2 sets on 11/09/05 and 3 more on 12/08/05!!! They are well worth the wait, they will probably hold up in price quite well, if the mint doesn't over produce them this year!! I don't trust the mint anynore, they've become a cash cow with no conscience about quality of product! I must say the '05 Legacy's are an exception to the above statement, they are really nice!!
How accurate is the mint year to year on when the coins come out... does the United States Mint Proof Set® come out every year on March 22? how much does it fluctuate? anyone out there track this? My thoughts are if every year they are consistant with dates of other coins they will be consistant with the legacy set..
The Mint can't overproduce the Legacy set because it is limited to 50,000, which is the same as 2005. I believe that the 2006 will surpass the 2005 in price because of the low mintage of the Franklin Commemoratives. I plan on buying the limit that the Mint sets for the Legacy sale. :eat:
Last year was initially going to be 100,000 limit to be minted and ten the limit to buy, then limit was cut back to 50,000 and limit to buy was lifted(you could have ordered as many as you wanted) I would think the limit will be 10 this year since the mintage will be 50,000 but don't know for sure.
Since Congress still has not passed legislation regarding the second 2006 commemorative coin (the SF Mint bill is on its way through Congress), it is basically impossible for the US Mint to give a date for the 2006 Legacy set. Once the legislation passes, the US Mint can start preparing for releasing the Legacy sets
As of May 25th, the San Franciso Mint Bill passed the Senate and now goes to joint committee with the House to iron out the differences. They're going to do three coins. One $5 gold and two $1 silver. So you'll have to figure out which one you want, just like with the Franklin. Can't wait for the Legacy!!! has anyone heard any new information on this. I am ordering this in hopes someone sends theirs back. It seems to be the only way to get a benjamin.
