By the way, how can you tell a regular '68-S from a proof '68-S?

I couldn't remember when "S" mints started being proof only. But '68 had both proof and regular strikes. I don't think this is a proof either, just a nice looking old nickel. But then I wondered how to tell the difference. Is it really obvious? The metal composition would be the same, so how can you tell a slightly circulated proof from an AU regular strike?

Picked up my first ever box Friday. Skunk on dimes but I'll keep trying. 2 CWR and the rest BWR.

    Moonshine ....................

So I quit my job in NYC. I am doing part time consulting work for a friend's I\T consulting firm and watching our new baby while the wife goes back to work full time. This is the first week so it'll be interesting to see how much roll searching I can do. The wife works from home 2-3 days a week which should free me up to make some bank trips.

Did a $500 bag of dimes from a local bank's coin counter. This was the second bag I've gotten from them. The first one only yielded 1 Roosie so I thought maybe it rejected silver but this second bag yielded 4 Roosies and a Merc.

$10 in BWR cents - only 14 pre-82 and 13 in the same roll. No wheats. 8 2009's, though so not a total loss.

    1 CWR halves - skunk

    Trick *and* Treat

Slow day at work so I grabbed another $10 in BWR cents. Only 114 1959-1981 with many a skunk roll. However, the ones that did have copper had 18 wheats!

    1920, 23, 26, 28
    1930s, 35, 37, 39(2)
    1940(2), 41, 41d, 42(2)
    1951, 55, 55d

Along with a 1960d small date and 5 2009's add up to more treats than tricks.

I am new to this but I get mine from a local Wells Fargo bank (formerly Wachovia). They have never asked me if I have an account with them even though I do and cheerfully ask me if I need a bag for my rolls. Other local banks have asked me if I had an account and are reluctant to let me have more than just a few rolls at a time.

By the way, I dump (return) the coins I don't keep at a credit union I have an account at. They have a machine that counts the coins so I don't have to re-roll them. Also, from my limited experience, credit unions are a poor source of coins. They have few to no business accounts and therefore have no need to stock more than a minimum amount of coins.

The fields on a proof will remain mirror-like even with circulation.
