Sorry about that....everything in green has sold, and everything in red is not sold. Last time I looked, you have 33 pages, (50 per page) to gaze over. Welcome to Coin Talk. Once you get a little more specific about serial, series, and condition, so can we.
Series 1935 $1 S.C.'s seem to go on forever. What did they go up to...? Like 1935H or something like that? We need more specifics, as Steve said. :welcome:to CT!
What I can't believe is people like you come on here and take the time to make an outrageous comment like this instead of sticking to your side of the forum. It's cool for coin people to come over here and for paper currency collectors to go over there but when you do so and make outrageous comments like this, just go back where you came from!
You are putting down one of them most commonly collected notes in all of US paper currency collecting. I find it outrageous and ignorant. If I went over to your forum and started talking smack about how "I can't belive people collect these weaties" you probably wouldn't be too happy about it... Older nickles, 1976 quarters... Whatever the coin may be, you get my point if your intelligent as I'd hope you are. After all, coins essentially last forever, but how long does paper last? Not forever, and this is for sure.
So you're saying that calling a dollar that doesn't have "In God We Trust" on it a "God-less" dollar is outrageous and ignorant?
This is a common term on the coin-side. (I have a few of the "Godless Dollar" error coins myself and the campaign to put IGWT on the Obverse just because people didn't know it was already on the edge struck me as...well, ignorant!) I was alluding to the fact that before we had IGWT on our money, we begot "The Greatest Generation." Now that we have "generation whatever" we demand that our money says IGWT. It makes us feel like a more righteous people... at least on paper! Sorry if you took my political commentary personally. I thought it was clever, especially given the paper dollar vs dollar coin debate. If you think my point was to disparage people who collect dollars w/o IGWT, I hope I've enlightened you. God bless collectors of all things great and small!
I didn't think the part about how you said it was Godless was outrageous. Thats just a statement. What I did think was outrageous was when you said that you can't belive people still collect it.
The common terms used on the currency forums is "with-motto" and "without-motto". The law passed by the 84th Congress and was approved by then President Eisenhower on July 11th, 1955. The change is seen on the one dollar Silver Certificate during series 1935G, some have the motto, some don't.
Apology accepted. When responding to requests by OP's, I will look more closely at where I am! On the other hand, I first saw the OP's request posted under "Post Something Random," a thread in "Coin Chat" that probably should have been more specific. We'll let him off for posting on the wrong side of the aisle this time.
Who's apology do you accept?? I haven't noticed anyone on here apologize to you.... I will however accept your apology for making your original downer comment... Well, I suppose I will say sorry that you don't understand the history factor in collecting US currency from a time where we didn't have the IGWT motto.
And I'm sorry that you don't understand Tongue-in-Cheek humor. The problem I often face when using it (and sarcasm too, for that matter) is that it can lead people to make literal assumptions about peoples intelligence and knowledge that are, in actuality, the exact opposite of the truth. I happen to be painfully aware of the motto's history, on both coins and paper money, but you'd have to understand the target of my humor to know that. But we digress! I hope the OP knows that our banter is just joking around and that he/she should post whatever they want, wherever they want...as long as it doesn't break the rules!
Well I'm sorry that you don't know how to use a smiley face to represent your humerous jokes:yes:. But hey, I once made the same mistake of not using a smiley face and I too got chewed out for it. Ironically, this was over in the coin section where I rarely visit. So we're good?
That is hilarious! In truth I am smiley face challenged... I was wondering why you were sensitive about collecting "the most commonly collected notes in all of US paper currency collecting." Is it because your scared they'll quit printing dollars?:yes:I collect Pres Dollars and First Spouse coins so maybe I've been toughened up; People are writing laws to get rid of my collection prematurely! And as my students are fond of saying, it's ALL good!
