Hey everybody, Today I acquired two older Canadian banknotes, from the Birds of Canada series. I have one 5 dollar note, and one Ten Dollar note. The 5 has a date of 1986 printed on it, and the 10 has 1989 printed on it. They are both in circulated condition. Since I don't know much about foreign currency (I'm from the states) I'd be interested to know as much as I can about these notes. Are there any websites that are a good resource for Canadian notes? Are these notes still common in circulation up in Canada, or have they largely disappeared? Any help with these would be great, and very much appreciated! Also, i can post pictures of them, if anybody would like to see them. Thanks!
Sorry, I cannot answer your question, because I too know nothing of Canadian currency. I would however love to see them so I could get an idea of "older style" Canadian notes if it isn't a hassle for you.
Nope those notes are out of circulation now. I don't have a website to direct you t2o, but if your're interested in adding a few more to your collection, from that series the $2 bills, the ones with the robins, on them, are the last $2 bills issued before we switched to the $2 coins.
Thanks for the info, Hamhawk. Yes, i actually would like to get a $2 from this series. I've done a little bit of reading about this series of notes, and apparently the $2 is quite desirable for currency collectors. Anyway, onto the pics: $5 Obverse $5 Reverse $10 Obverse $10 Reverse
Best site for Canadian Paper Money is http://www.cdnpapermoney.com/ No prices, but comprehensive data about Canadian notes, both pre- and post Bank of Canada. B of C became the sole source of Canadian notes in 1935.
