help with coin making tools that were made/owned/used by J.A. Bolen???

howdy!


let me start by saying i am NOT very knowledgeable about coins, and especially makers from the 1800s like Bolen. i was a coin collector as a young man in the 60s, and enjoyed the hobby very much!

i helped to evaluate and liquidate the estate of a well known south florida coin collector a few years ago, and i still have a few items left. one of them is this lot of coin making tools that were owned by the great J.A. Bolen

i have several provenance documents that indicate that the previous owner had purchased an entire lot of J.A. Bolen items from the NYC auction house French's in the late 1950s, and these tools were part of that lot.

the collectors house was robbed in the 1970s sadly, and some of the other items from that Bolen lot were up on display in his house and were stolen, never to be seen again. However, all of these tools were stored away and did not get stolen in the theft.

I have been trying to evaluate these fairly and sell them on ebay -- any ideas or comments as to their worth would be welcome. please PM me if you would like more photos or want to contact me, thanks!

Welcome to the forum! , sorry for moving you around, and I appreciate your understanding. This is a very interesting lot. I suspect a lot will have to do with estimating how much is not on the original list. The handles with wax are used in lapidary work to hold stones, and also could hold a small metallic object to grind or smooth.
