No one cares about the Rams. And yes, the Cards god the crap beat out of them tonight. Possibly the most pthetic baseball game ever played. You could say the same for the Rangers in the previous game though.
Oh, I don't know about that. All 3 of the games that the Pirates lost in the 1960 series were pretty pathetic-- they got the stuffing knocked out of them in all 3 games. Meanwhile, the 3 games the Pirates won leading up to Game 7 were all squeakers. However, thanks to Bill Mazeroski's dramatic 9th inning home run in the 7th game, the Pirates came out on top. And no, I was too young to remember the 1960 Series-- just recalling it from the baseball cards I used to collect in the day The first series I remember watching was that awful '68 Series.
I don't quite follow you here. How was last nights game pathetic? Holland came in and pitched a great game and the Rangers scored four runs. Sure it wan't a 16-7 beating like the night before, but that just means the pitching on both sides was horrible. There is more to Baseball then just smashing homeruns all the time.
Which is what they rely on here in NY. A good ol' fashioned pitchers duel until the 6th and I enjoyed the game except only for the fact that the red birds came up on the short end.
I still say it was pathetic, although not the most pathetic. I was still pretty unhappy about that game when I made that post. You are right though, I'll admit that the credit should go to Holland. I thought the way most of the Cards swung was pathetic. But Holland pitched a **** of a game. No argument there.
You have to admitt, the Cards game last night could be called pathetic. 1 for 12 with runnners in scoring position? Come on. And the Cards used to be great at playing small ball, but it seems like they've forgotten how these last few months. They may have used up all their power in that 16-7 game, lol. So now they don't know what to do
Oh, by the way, ANOUNCEMENT: When I started the contest, all I said was that I'd promise the winner silver. Well, I chose the prize. Its going to be a silver proof Washington. Good luck to everyone who predicted it would take 6 or 7 games to decide this series
Tonight should be a heck of a game. The Rangers are going to play hard to finish and take the series and the Cards are going play hard to stay in it. I am really looking forward to tonights game. Plus if the Rangers pull it out toinight 5-3 or close to that, I might just win me a silver Washington.
I think its great AdamL posted a contest. I read it when he first posted it, but unfortunately I would rather watch whales mate or paint dry, (or even a golf broadcast), than to have to watch another baseball game in my life. I know I am just a grumpy old guy, the last game I watched was before the strike. After that, why support a bunch of overpaid owners and athletes going on strike to see who can be overpaid more than the other. Just too slow of a sport. Plus, without a drunk Harry Carey trying to sing, what else is there left to watch? Ok, go ahead and throw your tomatoes now.
Medoraman, I know what you mean. I've talked to alot of people who gave up on baseball after the strike. GJ1103, I'm looking forward to this game too. It should be exciting. You never know whats going to happen with these two teams playing. Its been a good series.
Well thank the Lord for ESPN. Got Pitt/UConn on the tube. When El Beisbol ain't available I can fall back on some good ol' college football. And they's got Dr. Lou (Holtzman)......
Wow. That was an amazing game. Yes, I know, I'm biased. Only people who predicted 7 games can win now!
Dang Cards, and the fan gives up Freese's ball! Dude could have bought a ton of great looking coins and he gives up the ball. give me a break!! http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/bi...rdinals-fan-who-returned-Free?urn=mlb-wp25597
