I don't collect these so I don't know what I should be checking, but PCGS sure did a lousy job of centering it in the holder.

...at the risk of sounding like an absolute ignoramus on these, is it because it's listed as a series 641 50 cent instead of $1?

Damn you beat me to it. A $1 dollar note in a 50 cent labeled holder.

it seems to obvious to be the problem, right?

you watch, there's probably some exchange value for these cert's that makes it only hold half of face value or something like that. and then i'll have once again shown my arse in front of everyone.

If that is the case, PCGS would have to correct their description with out a charge for the service. That should take care of the centering problem at the same time.

What the other guys said. First off, it is not a 50 cent piece, it is a dollar. Second off, it is poorly centered. When you buy something like that, you expect it to at least be nicely centered and properly named. If I were you, I'd contact PCGS right away and have them fix it. They should do it, no charge. Good luck with getting this issue fixed. Would you mind me asking how much it is you paid for that particular note?

I have been able to center notes myself while in a TPG holder. They will move around in the holder.

Contact Laura, lkessler@pcgscurrency.com, explain the problem, and they will make it good.
Outstanding note Rusty. I nicest series 641 $1 MPC I've ever seen. This note has to be top-pop, or very close.

This may be unrealated, but what year does Series 641 stand for? I never did get into military payment notes and I know nothing about them but they are quite fascinating.

Everybody get,s extra credit, for a great job! yes the note is centered very poorly! but the main
Reason is this is a Series 641 $1 in a 50 Cent holder! i dont even know how this is possible! you
Might be thinking there are allot of 68PPQ 50 Cent notes out there causing the screw up
You would be wrong the fact is there is only 1 Series 641 50 Cents in PCGS 68PPQ in which
I happen to have in my collection so now that we know the problem you would think
This would be an easy fix just have PCGS change the number in the computer and then get
The label changed at my convienance, Nope i have to resend it back in and get re-labled
What a hassell!! event though they will not charge me and reimburse shipping!

I,am just trying to figure this out~

    Hey Steve :)

Yes it is top of the pop! i,ve been pursuing this note for such a long time even though
It is very common, it is very uncommon in 68PPQ have never seen one up for auction
Or for sale, i actually traded a Series 471 5 Cent note for it in 66PPQ which is also top
    Pop of only 4!

Mpc Series 641 was issued on August 31, 1965 and withdrawn on October 21, 1968

The was the first Series used in Vietnam exclusively!

    Lincoln Cents Cents not pennies

I looked at it for about five minutes and never noticed... I can't believe myself.

Maybe when it gets re-holdered PCGS will also correct their label to refer to Position Number instead of Plate Number. MPC was lithographed and did not use plate numbers.

It is mis-labeled. How can you expect a proper grade when they evidently don't even know what the bill is ?

I swear it's as bad as sports casters. Often I am not hearing what I am seeing.
