Ok so heres the deal. Recently i thought about getting a metal detector and try some of the parks around my house for coins. One of my customers at work knows i collect coins/bills. The guy said he had a few and recently got one off of craigslist. My boss was talking to him and told him i was interested in getting one. I told him before i had found a silver certificate star note, so he told me he would trade me the detector for the star note. I came home to get it out and realized i have 2 of them. Both of which i got at work for face value, so my question is which one should i trade?
The other one is a lower serial though. Wow, I'd be completely torn if I were you. Not sure that this helps lol. Good luck though man. I guess I'd keep the 5-digit serial number. Are there any stains/handwriting anything on the backs that would make them look worse? Maybe this can help in deciding..
The 0999 bill is the one I would keep. It looks better than the other one and it has a more interesting serial number.
I change my mind. I would keep the 999. I did at first notice the '999' but I what I didn't realize was the 2122 at the ending. That deffiantely is cool. Keep that one!
If it doesn't matter to you, and you got them both for face, why not give the dude with the metal detector his choice?
OK, so this guy is going to trade you a working metal detector for a piece of paper money worth under $5? Does he know you meant a super-common 1957 circulated $1 star silver certificate? Is he someone you want to keep as a friend?
IMO, if that guy really isn't going to any research on it first, before making a deal, I'd just let the deal slide. Plus, some metal detectors these days are actually quite cheap and some are very expensive, so it's possible that this deal isn't such a land slide. So who knows.
Rugrats he said he has several detectors and he got this one off of craigslist for very cheap i think he said he only paid like $10 for it. tbudwiser why wouldnt you trade? I plan to keep the 999 one as of now.
