    hi,

i'm new to coin collecting, and never worried about errors for it is a broad spectrum. but i found a dime that looks to have a small chunk of it missing, here's some pics, although they aren't very good. Photo on 2011-10-24 at 21.41 #2.jpg Photo on 2011-10-24 at 21.42.jpg

    thanks in advance.

We would need better photos to give you a definitive answer but from what I can see it does not appear to be a genuine clip. I do not see any sign of the Blakesley effect one would expect to see on a genuine clip of that size. Do a search on CoinTalk for "Blakesley effect" for an explanation.

alright, i'll have to do that!

and how much would a coin like this be worth?

Depends on the size of the clip. A small one barely gets any premium, larger clips.... a buck or two unless it's substantial then the price goes higher.

ah, okay. well the clip goes halfway through the letters on the back.

If there's no Blakesley effect then it's questionable.
