I'm glad you took the time to explain. I collect Roman coins exclusively these days and I know nothing about the coins originally posted on this thread. My concern was how we as a community welcome new collectors to our ranks. In time, new collectors become the experts as the rest of us fade away. But not if we chase them away before they have a chance. They should not be intimidated to the point they will not participate in discussions for fear of someone belittling their comments. Constructive criticism may be justified at times, but not intimidation.

Thanks JWH, although good intentions are met with strange expectations at times, I do feel a lot more welcome now. I am not that good at this stuff nor do I proclaim to be an expert. If I am wrong, I expect that you all will fix my thinking which is the only way I can learn. The things I like most is that this is a hobby that is self-sustaining and it is forever. It isn't a day to day accomplishment like most hobbies. Thank you all for recognizing that, yes, people will always screw people over with fakes but our job is not to make it easy for them. Thanks :)

I have been a collector for 45 years, but I don't really collect Chinese coins, so when I got a fake "junk dollar" from a "junk box" I couldn't tell immediately that it was just "junk".

    Welcome!
I too had a bit of trouble with the first post.
I am ALL FOR reporting bad sellers and/or bad coins on eBay.
I am just not familiar enough with Chinese coins to make a snap judgement for myself before reporting.
Not to say that you don't know what you are talking about, but I like to feel confident I am reporting a fake when I report.
I don't like the feeling of reporting a counterfiet, then thinking afterwards that maybe it wasn't really a counterfiet.
What I am saying is I needed a little info to go on showing why it was counterfiet.

Just a quick .02 on the first post controversy.
In the end, we are glad to have you here and welcome you!
Anyone that cares enough about our hobby to have this passionate response can't be bad. :D
