I was diging through my wheaties and i happened upon this beauty, kinda remindes me of i thread I was reading somewhere....
I taught high school chemistry and one of the experiments we did was the "Gold Penny" where the students plate some zinc on the surface of a penny and then heat it to make a surface layer of brass. I actually got one at a store in change the other day. Looked a lot like your coin.
