I am wondering what you guys think of this coin. I have read different articles concerning the details, but I still can't decide if it's genuine or not. It weighs within the limits at 15.7grams.
    I've included some photos. Thanks.

Looks like a casting seam, combined with the mushiness, I would vote copy.

That's a cast fake for sure.

I really appreciate you guys letting me know. I wasn't too disappointed and thought it was likely fake. It was included in a lot of coins and you may see others from the same lot for feedback, if that's okay.:)

Just a note- the genuine planchets were cast...

The edge should look like the red circled one:

Cast planchet then struck. Bad copy. Thanks for the edge profiles Jack. Having never handled a real one is good to see what they look like

Not even a remotely good fake.

Used to be that you could purchase these type copies from museum gift shops and the like. I would surmise that or something similar would be the origin story of this piece.

It was the first I've seen. It came in a coin lot I bought.

It is what it is, but it makes for good conversation thanks for sharing. Good luck.

Why would the rim which is raised still be in good condition, and the lower
    areas worn?
