I have a 1991 - D Penny, that looks like it is a different material and color then all the other pennys. Also, there isnt a mark on this penny- we found it in a time vault type deal.. CAN Anybody tell me why this 1991D penny appears GOLD, and different when held up to other pennies? Picture attached: SORRY FOR PICTURE QUALITY, I ONLY HAVE A CELL PHONE. Thanks, Rocco
Probably not Post Mint Damage (inside joke around here) It's a brass cent from the combination of zinc and copper.
Just a plated Lincoln cent with no intrinsic value. However, with that photo, you might try selling it on eBay... it's actually a better pic than this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1973-GOLD-P...32?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item3cbd7491fc
I disagree. From that image, as bad as it is, I would say definitely post mint damage from being plated.
ok first thing try putting light behind the camera instead of using the b.s. flash it comes with please remember if it looks decent on camera it prolly is flawed..lol.. id practice with my web cam at home.. learned to change the settings abit if i was u...
Hello Rocco, Maybe it it's a proof coin that they messed up and it didn't get the S mint mark. ???? Or maybe it's previous environmental conditions toned it. I have a 1991 quarter which is gold plated, but I've only ever seen two gold plated bicentennial quarters (and I kept them). They did that back in the day, but to my on those knowledge, bicentennial there were only those coins that got gold plated. You could pay PCGS or NGC to grade it, then you would know for sure. Toddly
Toddly, this is a 7 and a half year old thread. and that is also how long it has been since rcastero has been here.
