I know the Pictures are not the best working on more as I type. The Coin is a 2006 Penny. The Edging is Totally Rounded all the way around the coin W/ Excess Metal folded over on both the front and back of coin just perfectly enough not to intrude on any of the lettering. NOW some people from the pictures I'm posting here said SPOON COIN. NOPE to Perfect rounded and no out of round shape what so ever as well as how could someone make the excess just perfect on both sides and not off a lil' bit to over lap any of the outside writing on the coin? NO WAY? Then I took to the local Coin shop here in Arlington, TX. They put it under a scope and said def. NOT A SPOON COIN and I asked him what its called which he replied ROUNDED EDGE COIN. Now upon him telling me this Ive searched the term several times with nothing coming up???? HELP WHAT is it called? ARE THEY RARE AT ALL?? WHATS THE VALUE???
Commonly called a "dryer coin". It's been for quite a spin. Not rare and has no value. Find another local coin shop. The one you went to knows too little about coins. And :welcome: to CT!
I agree with the dryer coin from your description. I see nothing in the photos to contradict it. Heaven knows I make them myself sometimes using "air" dry instead of heat. Welcome to the forum! Jim
thanks for the replies so far. I see how this could be dryer coinage w/ the perfect rounding and such. Anyone Else? Im going to try to have more pics up here in just a bit. Thanks
When they get caught on edge in a dryer, they get rolled almost perfectly kind of like with a stone tumbler.
