Is the faded 4 in the date on this dime a strike error or the result of wear? Is it worth more than a typical 1944 dime? Thanks!
What's going on with the rim right near there? Can we get a pic of the rim in that area? And a full shot of the reverse?
I believe the wear you see on the edges of the dates on the mercury dimes and wheat cents is likely caused by the wrapping hook on the shotgun coin wrapper. It was a round metal device that folded the shotgun end when the wrap was being turned. I mean you see that same type of wear quite often. IMHO gary
