Commonly seen with that seller, GreatSouthernCoins. They auction off raw rarities fairly often, and for some odd reason, people pay some crazy premiums for their coins. Customers may say "Ohh, their grades are very accurate", and I would have to strongly disagree. They may also say "Ohh, their photos are top-notch and show every flaw", which is another completely inaccurate statement... But, I'm not gonna go into details. -Brian
One thing that I have noticed with them is that most forum members whether here or elsewhere seem to think they are underhanded in some way. Their customers sing a different tune and I guess that's all that matters. Most seem to be happy with the transactions.
I was thinking the same thing. On top of that, why would they pay that much for an unslabbed coin. I would want it slabbed not for the slab itself but for the authenticy of it.
I've had several transactions with GS and have been fully satisfied in every way. I've never found that their photographs or descriptions hid anything at all.
I've heard through the grapevine that they tend to crack problem coins out of problem holders and sell them raw.
Some people know what they are doing/looking at and don't have to have someone else tell them what it is.
They count on people THINKING they know what they are doing. I would never buy a pattern coin raw online.
It's been a while since before Katrina but I have bought from them also without any problems. You just need to know what your looking at. As for the pattern dime I'd put it at about a Pr61/2
