It has a recent grade in the prong holder, not sure how long those have been used.. I'm thinking it is accurate for the grade, just wanted to see what folks thought. This one looks really great in hand finally...
I'm thinking MS 64. Looks like a couple small marks on the obverse fields and the scuffs on Liberty's cheek would keep it IMO from going 65. Great looking coin:thumb::thumb:
Wouldn't surprise me if NGC gave it a 65, personally, I'd call it a 64. I've seen some pretty beat-up Morgans come back from NGC in "MS65" holders. :rollling: -Brian
It graded a 65 and I didn't think it looked that bad when I picked it up for the price. I've seen some NGC and PCGS 65's that seem to show more marks than this one did...
I got it for just about 64 money actually, the sellers photos weren't the greatest and the coin does have very good luster.
The coin is nice, but the grade is accurate (if not somewhat generous). The luster is slightly obscured by light toning, or what almost looks like active corrosion. The cheek is fairly clean and I don't see any extremely deep abrasions, which are all consistent with MS64's and 65's. -Brian
I think I like this coin at MS-65. As noted, there are no marks, really, outside of the luster grazes, and those are pretty light, at that. The state of the dies is a little late, but the tradeoff is the enhanced liveliness of the surface. I have a PCGS MS-65 in this series with a surface that looks dead compared to this one. This is struck-up real nice, too, which only enhances the eye appeal. A very nice later-state gem, IMHO.
Tomorrow I am getting a better camera as opposed to the phone camera I've been using and I will snap a few new shots for comparison.
