nickel curiosity

    hello knowledgable ones,
    i was going through my change today and ran across an odd jefferson date. it is a 1962. what has me chagrinned is the dat. the 62 are really pronounced and the bottom leg of the 2 looks almost doubled. i am sorry i can not get a decent enough picture or i would post. is their a varient date or something for this year? thanx

    Hi pog,

    Yes, there are documented 1962's that include doubling of the date.
    Don't know if you have one, but it is possible.

    Sorry to butt in ......but a scanner usually works best for coins.

    (unless of course you have a microscope with a camera attachment.)

    thanx dta. but when i scan the files are to big to post. i received some advice about taking pics and i am pursuing it now.

    Unfortunatly, the photos will be too large by camera also, unless they are taken at 640x480 resolution (or less)....which is okay for computer screens...

    you can also reduce the picture size or resolution on the scanner and save it as a .jpg, .gif, or .png ( all good for internet) and the resulting files will be smaller....

    The scanner resolution does not need to be high...(only 200 dpi) the file will be small, and the picture will be fine....

    P.S. Been there...done that...
