Can anybody tell me the meaning of small G on coin

    My wife's dad got me this coin a few days agofrom a friend, I believe its a half a dollar but wat i dont know why does it have a small G on the obverse and doesnt say half dollar on the reverse. posting pictures any info would help. and the value of it because my father inlaw said his friend gave it to him for free.     It's not a Walking Liberty half, it's a 1 oz silver bullion round. The G is just the mark from the company that minted/commissioned them.

    The value would be close to the spot price of silver which is currently around $32 an oz.
