okay, so here's the story, one of my friends parents works at a storage facility. so when someone doesn't pay their rent on one of them, everything inside of it becomes the owners, well he knows i collect coins and found a small jewelry box with some pre 64' halves and dimes. and he took half and i took the other half. and i'm wanting to know how much halves, and dimes are worth in silver value right now because i'm not good with the charts. what i have calculated is that it would be 51.24 and my coins are: 2- 1964 kennedy halves 1- 1949 franklin half 3- mercury dimes 4- roosevelt dimes so would 51.24 be right? not taking off the fee that they take to melt it.
Coins struck in 90% silver have the following silver content...... 50c - .36169 oz 10c - .07234 oz There is a combined total of 1.59145 oz of pure silver. Chris
This is an easy one also (I filled in the blanks with your quantities and got $50.64; of course, the price changes as the spot value of silver changes): http://www.silvercoinstoday.com/silver-calculators/us-silver-coin-calculator/
If you can compute how much cable you'd need to stabilize a cellphone tower, this should be a piece of cake. Chris
they are all in horrible shape ty, you can barely see the dates on them, i had to use a 20x to even get somewhat of a clue to as what they are. i don't like melting coins, but these are worth face in the shape they are in, so that's why i'm melting them. @j, lol, it's my friends dad, and they were all 64 kennedys that i gave him.
I find selling on eBay gets me closest to spot price for metals, but than you lose eBay/PayPal fees. Different shops will give you different amounts, I would call around and ask for quote to see whom is paying the most. I would also explain that they are very worn, some places pay a little less for that, as it is assumed they have lost some silver weight do to wear. *some people here debate weather a coin losses any overall mass as it wears or if the details just get flattened inward* I have weighed worn coins and seen that they are slightly under weight, so I believe some loss does occur over time, but not a huge difference.
I flat out know you aren't in any intelligence organization. Three problems with your statement. 1. If you were in the CIA and you actually did something extremely important there or for them, you would never even hint to your own wife that you work there. 2. If you just had a cool desk job there, you would boldly boast that you definitely worked there, not flirt with the "I might be" wink wink... the reason you could boast is that it is no longer a secret to work at the majority of these organizations, the work that you did for them is the only true secret. I.E. CIA, NSA, and FBI all have tour centers and gift shops these days. 3. If you did work for any agency other than the CIA you would have pride in what you specifically did and never affiliate yourself with the CIA in a statement anywhere. That would be like serving in the Marine Corp and joking in a forum somewhere and claiming I might be "AirForce". So this eliminates that you are a part of any National Intelligence Agency...
