For a few years now I've been, like many in this forum, searching Kennedy Half Dollars for silver.
Well, its safe to say I've amassed quite a few; and given the current price of silver, I decided to cash in those halves for this........a 1937-D Three legged Buffalo. :hail:

I've been waiting a long time for this baby, and now that's its in hand, it has been well worth the wait.
Let me know what you think. This one is graded by NGC, but I'd love to hear your opinions.

Jimmie---I saw this a few days ago but forgot to post as I was on my way out the door!
Might I say that this is a GREAT COIN!!!!
I've only seen a few of them in person myself and most have been lower graded coins...this could be a weak strike but I was thinking AU58 for the grade....and if it is a weak strike then maybe MS61???

Cool, I am glad I bought it, at the Time I was like 19 and was like do I buy the stupid coin or do I go party, lucky for me I didnt have no one to party with that day!
Let me ask you this would it pay to have it profesionally graded? if so how much does something like that cost and who do you all reccomend?

You nailed it Speedy. AU58 slabbed by NGC. I also though, maybe it could get by as MS61 when I picked it up. Either way, I'm one happy collector!

Yes--I would get it graded.....I would send it to NGC and it would cost abotu $25.
You will need to have a dealer send it in for you or if you are a ANA member you can send it in.
They won't let anyone send in coins....I don't know why.
This coin has been known to be faked but its not faked alot if I understand it right.

Cool beans.....I think you got a heck of a nice coin!!!!!....

Well I did it I took it in Saturday to have it sent off. The Dealer agreed said it would prolly come back atleast a VF-15 maybe better.
It cost me about 73.00 to get it shipped off man that sux.. I paid in shipping what I have in the coin!

On a lighter note I just bought a fake 3 legger. I have decided that I want to put together a complete collection of buffalo's. I figure I out to have a fake in their too!
The fake is a good one, what ever was done to it was done a long long time ago and the nickle has toned over very nicely....
Does anyone have any pics of fakes
Should I post one of my fake next to my real one?
I don't want to insult anyone

My goodness...why $73 to ship it???...that is really high.
When I send coins to ANACS I get a flat rate envelope that is $4.05 and maybe put $100-$500 insurance and that is $1.35 per $100.

Yea he charged 12.00 for shipping to
    14.00 shipping back from florida
    30 for slab
    15.00 for hiself.
I wish I would have known that sounds like I got poked...

That depends of what service he used - next day & registered mail can be rather expensive.

Who did he send it too?....and maybe GDJMSP hit it on the head...maybe faster shipping and such.
my dealer charges $25 per coin and that is everything....and it takes about a month to get it back.
Anyway...the coin is well worth the extra cost...you got a heck of a deal so that isn't too bad still!

Ok, be looking for my photo this evening or tommorow when I get back from work, I have a final exam today so might be tommorow till I can post it,
Well the coin went off Monday, I'll wait to see how long it takes to get back, either way I can't wait to see it in the slab. I plan on having a little fun this weekend at the FT Worth coin show. I am going to take a bag of old indian pennies and buffalos and go up to the slimiest looking dealer and see what he offers for the bag and include the fake 3 legger. I of course will not sell, but want to see what kind of offers I get!
