OK, it is NGC Certified, as you can see by the slab, but in you guys' opinion, what would you grade it as if it were raw? And please say why you voted what you did. Please, don't give away NGC's grade if you have seen the Coin on other Sites as I want an unbiased opinion on this. 1916D Merc (available light) Paid $400: 1916D (flash):
I would say: "What was it like being born in 1916 and living through the great depression?" That coin appears to be About good - good in my opinion. $400 seems like a reasonable price. Also, welcome to CT!
I'll go 4...because it's NGC and I've seen 4's that look like that edit: oh...you asked if it were raw...well...hmm..I'd still go 4
Keys will usually get a bump, but I think even though its nice even wear, its just a bit too much for a G4. I'll say AG3.
I believe it has pretty good detail. If the rim wasn't flat, it would bring a VG IMO. I call it G4. For an AG3, I'd expect to see a bit less detail overall. (My .02, worth what you paid for it.)
g4, almost a g6 or vg8, but not quite. But, if you paid $400, details, looks improperly cleaned in 2nd set of photos. If not, I'm looking for one, PM me.
The Grade Depends Upom The TPG!! It is from my experience with "Top Tier" TPG a G4 or better, probably graded VG8. I've seen that date graded by "Top Tier" TPG, in similar condition, graded Fine. I wouldn't be amazed to see it currently TPG "market graded" VF. If one had objectively followed my TPG posts they wouldn't be amazed either. :thumb:
Details because $400 is low for a g4, they go for at least $600 on eBay and it looks improperly cleaned in 2nd set of photos but maybe just the pics.
