Dear D***, (I put the asterisks in for forum rules sake)

Thank you for writing eBay to report these potentially violating
    listings to us.

I have thoroughly investigated your report, and have confirmed that the
items are not in violation of our raw and uncertified coins policies.
As such, no action has been taken on the items. Sellers are prohibited
from referencing grading companies in relation to the coin being sold.
The sellers are not using PCGS in relation to the coin being sold or in
relation to the PCGS price guide.

Please see the following page for eBay's policies regarding the sale of
    coins:
    http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/selling-coins.html

    Thanks again for your report.

    Sincerely,

    Derek B.

I called eBay Saturday eve and spoke with customer support and the lady said her supervisor was going to review it and call me back. No call back, no apology.... so I call again today and speak to a supervisor, start all over, he also says they will look into it and investigate the issue, I said what is to investigate you can read it clear as me... than he apologized and said maybe they will send an apology letter. That's all he could do.

I am surprised they would do that! I can only assume what the word was, but either way, that does not seem like something ebay would ever do. geez.

Also, how did they not find any violation? Did you recheck the auctions? Were they references removed?

I'm assuming your first name isn't Richard. The email doesn't seem rude, so my guess is the eBay rep just confused your name (possibly with someone else's complaint).

No the references weren't removed.. and I am really shocked that an eBay customer support rep would call me a vulgar name when I didn't even provoke any trouble.

I sincerely doubt he mixed my name up with Richard ;)

Even if you did make trouble, and call them names, they should never be vulgar in response. Jerks. :)

I think the listings are OK (the one I looked at said something like "member PCGS"... you can do that, can't you?). Not sure if you were intentionally called a profanity, probably just a typo.

If the "D" was capitalized, then he was likely referencing someone's real name. Even if it wasn't your first name, you could have been one of many people he was responding to. I see nothing insulting in the email. If this name is the shortened form of Richard, then you are being WAY too sensitive. Now, if he called you something truly vulgar, that's another story...but I'm not seeing it.

I think I've been called a lot worse! This is the only reference to PCGS copied directly from the auction page:

I'm sure these reps go through tons of complaints a day, so you don't think it's possible he just confused your complaint with Dick's complaint (that is a name after all). Plus, look at the rest of the email, the rep says thank you twice in the message, then says sincerely, and lists his name, definitely doesn't seem like he is angry in any way at you. I think it's just a simple mistake.

My name is Donn, You do not typo ick after the D in my name?!?
and the only reason they are listing pcgs anywhere in their raw coin listing is to draw more search hits to their auction, which is the exact reason that Coin Grading Companies are not to be Referenced in the Title or Description of raw coins.

    Stop being such a Donn!

Referenced by definition is mentioned in any way, i.e. (I'm a PCGS member, that is a reference to PCGS)

Here is the link that the rep listed.
    http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/selling-coins.html

Raw and uncertified coins A raw or uncertified coin is defined as any coin not graded by an authorized grading company. Sellers can list these items on eBay as long as:

    • A numeric grade (such as MS-65, VF-25) is not included in the title of the listing. A numeric grade can only be included in the item description.
    • No grading company is referenced in the title or description.

    • No estimate of value (even if personal opinion) or reference to a price guide is included in the title or description.

    • The listing includes a photo of the coin being sold. Images that are dark, out of focus, edited, or might be misleading aren't allowed. Also, stock photos aren't allowed.

    • Coins that are sealed in original U.S. Mint packaging include a photo showing the actual packaging.

No where does it state the coin in the auction must be mentioned in relation to the grading company, it simply states Do Not Reference the grading companies period in a raw auction.

Read both my posts, I never said he misspelled your name, I said he confused it (i.e. he thought your name was Dick, you are aware that's a name, right?).

    That is funny ;)

Well, I see nothing wrong with the listings (and eBay agrees) or the letter. I think there was a simple mixup in the name.

So what's your complaint? You want a gold embossed apology letter? I don't get the point of this thread any more.
