Hi guys, Looking for some info on this guy. I was not able to find the production numbers for this series. As usual any info is great!!! Picked this guy up at work counting money for our bank deposit, also had a very nice 1990 $20 that I couldnt afford to grab. No holes, slightly off white, really crisp but a few folds. Im not sure what the black marks are is it possible to remove things like that or is more like the coin world where any type of cleaning is bad?
Gosh I'm jealous. Do you know how excited I would get if I got a regular 1969 $10? Very. And you go find a star of that.. Well thats just awesome! So lucky haha. Sorry I cannot help you to identify the printing figures of this note because my usual souces don't go past Series 1974. If anybody on here knows a source that goes in deeper than that, please share it :hail:

How do you happen to know that this is from a run of 640k? Where is your source of information? I can't find anywhere that gives printing figures for before Series 1974 (half of it).

I wouldnt say lucky, I work long hours for little pay and risk my life every day handling money for someone else... lol But the one perk is I get to go through thousands of dollars a day. I was surprised when I found it, not a normal bill in circulation. I had to pass on a 4 digit $50 today also... Damn being a broke white boy in a bad economy!!! Your telling me, I really couldnt afford to grab the $10, but I figured I would skip a lunch this week to cover it... Just dont tell my wife. Thanks for the est. Im not very fluent currency values or conditions so its a it or miss game for me. I have heard some HIGH pricing from a source im starting to believe has no real clue or at least not accurate values.
I would... To find an old $10 in circulation is cool. To find an old $10 1969 star in circulation IS luck. I go through large sums of cash as well, and the odlest of a bill I've pulled out of circulation was a 1950B $5. The oldest star note I've pulled from a strap search was a 1995 $1 star. That was a couple weeks ago. Let me tell ya how excited I got when I saw that. Very. Don't be too upset about the 1990 $20 uncirc. They are actually somewhat common, nothing to cry about. I mean don't take me wrong though, you should still grab it if you can afford too. I got an uncirculated 1990 NY $10 the other day from my teller. I think people holding onto such notes are forced to release them into circulation due to the currency financial economy crisis. I bet thats also the case with this $10 you got. Keep looking out and great finds!
Yeah finding it was a stroke of luck, to bad the 5 wasnt a 1. lol I think my boss might be starting to wonder why it takes me an extra hour to count the deposit now... Im pretty sure it came out of a collection, I recently spent a couple * bills to get gas. Hated to do it, but at least it was the worst condition bills out of what I have.
I've gone as far as to turn my bills into the bank, talk to the manager, and beg them to set these specific notes aside and deposit the $ worth into my account until I get paid to come buy them back right away. I've only done this once now (funny enough, just yesterday) and they weren't to happy with doing it. The manager even informed me that "it was against bank policy to segregate specific cash from the rest of the banks assets" but I got lucky because a week ago the ATM broke down outside when I made a cash deposit while the branch was closed. My cash as well as my ATM debt card got stuck inside. I had to wait at that ATM while I contacted BOFA and filed a claim on my cash and ATM card. They electronically shut it down and I went on my way but it did cause me huge inconviences because I just so happened to need my ATM card and I had kids with boxes of ice cream with me that were melting and getting ruined. Not to mention the mile long line of people that were truely offended by me just standing their until they asked and I told them. So I had this on them and they said they would make a 1 time exception for me.
If you need to spend the * bills, definitely spend the ones that are the worse for wear. Too bad about the $50 but I've been in your shoes many times. Nice note, but not enough cash on hand to cover it. Thanks for posting about this. I always enjoy hearing stories of the cash being pulled from circulation. Makes me want to get a part-time job as a teller at a bank.
If your a collector that doesnt have a surplus of cash, I dont see a negative to picking up a part time job that involves a lot of currency.
I actually said something to my wife this past week about looking into a part-time job that would allow me to handle large sums of money. Who knows, I might go look to be a Saturday bank teller at one of my local banks.
I think everyone who collects currency has thought of being a part time teller at some point. Heck I thought about working part time at the gun range to get free brass LOL!
My father-in-law used to reload all of my .45ACP's for me, but then when he got sick he had to give it up. I've switched to steel casings for my range rounds!
A better answer Doc would of been; I started reloading myself! Think of the money you can save! Who am I kidding, It actually allows you shoot ten times more making you a better marksman. It also allows you to tailor your rounds for better accuracy, and more or less power/recoil. It's a very rewarding science, and should look into it.
