Sometimes they either file on their own, or they find someone to take the case on a contingency basis. Either way the cost to them is minimal.

well if they wanna sue me I have the coins they sold me and two written estimates what there worth @ retail by 20 plus years in business coin dealers
also copy of the description how there were listed and sold to me ,, two describing what I was sent and received ... and there opinion of those coins

I went out and just bought a new laser jet printer that can handle 7500 pages on one ink cartridge so I could copy a long list of opinions of others I found doing a Google search ... that and I needed a new printer :)
If I live long enough I welcome there lawsuit ....

But I doubt it would ever come to that .. I don't see how anyone would benefit from it
In fact I was offered a full refund including shipping for more then half of the coins so far
I'm not sure if it's Ebay's and Amazon's stepping in or someone grew a conscience or that feed back that was left
suggesting people to google them before buying made an impact ...
For all I know The better business bureau could be watching them by now ?

Whatever the case I'll wait and see how it all ends...........
I have a feeling it'll work out alright

Ebay stepped up and covered shipping out of pocket they gave me a link to print out postage
all I have to do is box em up ..
Still steamed about the coins but luckily I found a reputable coin dealer who has sent me
    nothing but great coins.............

I just hope more beginners or out of the loop buyers
learn about these and other sub standard coin sales depots out there
I can only imagine how many been taken and don't even know it yet ...............

Oh and Ebay did make it a point for me to leave reflecting feedback
in order to help potential buyers ....... and so I did ..

Thank you all for your input

Good link tells all the "Phony" companies... though rule of thumb is big three ,,, beginners can get easily confused by one letter different
    bogus coin-panies

IMO, the people that own/run SGS should be put in jail.

Oouch! Looks like you paid some expensive tuition. Would suggest you stick to bullion material and TPG coins.

I read a lot about Larry Bence and Abon.com and SGS.
I'm not new to coin collecting, but I just want to know this --
I read somewhere else that Larry Bence sold somebody a California Gold coin and it turned out to be a gold-plated copper coin.
Isn't this an obvious case of fraud / counterfeit?
If this is the case, why isn't Larry Bence behind bars right now?

I don't know about the circumstance you are referring to, but some California/pioneer "gold" is only known from some gold plated copper or gold plated silver strikes. Another possibility is that he reimbursed the buyer.
