Seeing is believing. I am not a conspiracy theorist, but you would think that in the past 34 years there would have been at least one physical audit of the place. I believe that there have been physical audits of the gold holdings at the Federal Reserve Bank in NYC, which is larger than at Fort Knox, but most of that is owned by other nations.
Most religions will disagree. Besides, none of us have physically seen Jupiter, but that doesn't mean we've been lied to all these years as to it's existence. Guy
On October 29, 2011, Jupiter will be at opposition. At opposition, the Earth passes in between the sun and Jupiter, at which time Jupiter lies opposite the sun in Earth’s sky. What’s more, the 2011 opposition of Jupiter will present Jupiter nearest to Earth until the year 2022. But don’t wait until the October 29 opposition to enjoy Jupiter. Start watching in late April and May. Expect it to be big and bright in May, even at morning dawn! Just remember … Jupiter is far brighter than any star. But what kind of audit do you want? Are you only happy with one with TV cameras? It is standard procedure on facilities like this to take daily audits. I am sure it is audited often, just not by outside personnel whose presence in the facility could cause a security breach. This facility is run by the military, (I saw it when I was there for air assault training at a distance), and I am sure they are using the same physical security procedures like they do other sensitive facilities. Every single time any door is ever opened a physical count has to be performed. Every door has a mechanism to trace physical openings, and these have to line up with counts from two people and theri signatures, and the same two people can never count 2 times in a row. I guess my own background in military security procedures simply make me more comfortable as to the WHY an outside audit has not been done more often. Its a very high risk target, famous all over the world. If I were in charge I would have it locked down as tight as I could make it as well. Chris
It wouldn't matter if they did do another audit, people would still believe what they want to believe. Don't forget, the last audit was done because people back then didn't believe there was any gold in the facility
I think one physical audit every quarter to half century is not too much to ask. I do not think people need cameras, TV documentaries, hype, etc. as you are insinuating. I would be happy with a Big 4 accounting firm taking a look, and yes I would take their word on it. They would not need to see the security...just the inventory.
Many people have seen Jupiter through a telescope, especially since 1974. Regardless, many independent visual images document it's existence for those who have not seen it. BTW: This thread has nothing to do with religion. I am exiting this discussion now.
with each vault once the vault is audited and closed there are seals applied to the vault and as long as the seals remain intact the vault has not been opened and it is assumed in the paper audits that the vault contains the same thing that it did during the last physical audit.
If the Fed can poof dollars electronically as much as they want, the gold seems pretty irrelevant to me.

It would if gold were about a million dollars an ounce. This is about where it would head for if Ft Knox were found to be empty.

The Government has plenty of things more valuable than the gold at Fort Knox that it needs to protect.
No - they didn't as a a historical fact. They nearly blew it altogether..and almost ended up with a spy in the project.
