It is a beautiful coin. I don't have one, and you do. So that is worth the extra few bucks you may have overpaid.
Using acetone to clean a coin like the OP's, how long would you need to soak the coin? Do you soak them for minutes, hours, days? I guess I could experiment on some junkers, but I'd rather listen to the voice of experience.
Thanks bobbeth87 and Greg! I appreciate it. The irony of it is I am from the south and could never find one. 4 months up here in the north and bam! I thought it was kinda funny really.
i'd like to know as well. Do you use straight acetone or something like fingernail polish? Tell us oh wise one Chris!
Call me greg If you use Acetone, be sure it is 0 acetone. Finger nail polish should NOT be used. You can leave a coin like this soaking for days. Depending on the crud, it may take longer. Also, acetone evaporates quickly, so you need to make sure the coin is submerged the entire time.
It would be at your local hardware store. It is usually near the paint thinner. Also, it is very toxic, so be careful. Dont bother wearing latex gloves either. It eats through that in seconds! Also, use a ceramic bowl, nothing with metal, or a metal ring, or anything like that.
hahaha! I thought I could totally put my ciggarette out in it..Darn! And you think I should use it on this half?
