I´d have to say not MD.... But I can´t tell even what it is. I´ll stay with my answer.

can you get a close up on the date for us? There are some stellar rundowns of MD somewhere around here...they helped me see the difference and I can be hard to train.

Slightly resembles 1972 DDO #3 (Link to LincolnCentResource for diagnostics- http://lincolncentresource.com/doubledies/1972ddo3.html), but it's very difficult to tell by the photos you've included. Is there any doubling in the southern position of "LIBERTY"? Other parts of the date that show doubling also show signs of MD. Please take close-up photos so we can further examine! :)

take a picture directly facing the coin vice at an angle. I have been looking at coopercoins and there is no DD that is like yours (if yours is a real DD). A part of me thinks that the doubling is flat shelf like making it an MD and then I also think it can be a DD.

The second picture makes me think it is a DD but still not definitive on it...I need to see the words "IN GOD WE TRUST". You may want to go to your local dealer to see what he/she thinks as well.

what's MD stand for? I never even heard of DD until I popped in here!
How rare are these? Should I open all my penny wrappers, dump them out and start looking for DD's? And quite honestly, I don't see any difference, guess I need to see them in person and with a magnifying glass:confused:

yeah, I read it, very interesting. Guess I won't open all those penny wrappers after all but I will start looking at them more closely when I wrap the next batch.
That's the only new thing I learned all day!
