    Does anyone have a ballpark estimate on what this is worth, please?

    It would have to be examined by an expert to determine if it is authentic or not. Many of these have been copied and aged to look genuine.

    Agreed

    And I plan to do that with a local numismatic expert, but, for the simple sake of edited, what would it be worth if it does turn out to be genuine?

    I am assuming it is a fake, and as such worthless, but humor me all the same.

    The $1 note is the scarcest of all the continental currency notes ... i have never seen one for sale on ebay, but I am sure they are floating around out there ...

    Also I am not a grading expert but maybe it would grade around Fine (if genuine) ?

    This is also the 1st issue (May 1775) ... so it's i think you could say that its the first $1 bill of the new fledgling government ... which is sort of cool

    Because of this it's listed in the book of the "100 Greatest U.S Currency Notes" at #48

    That book which was published in 2006 lists the value at

    VG = $75
    VF = $150
    UNC = $325

    However I bet the prices are higher today

    You might get more if you listed it on an auction on ebay. As there is usually a good amount of interest in these notes.

    Take it to Pawn Stars and have Rick's expert examine it! Then he can give you a low-ball offer.

    It was a gift from my mother back in the early 1980's and it is a bit rough. I've got a close friend who is a somewhat experienced collector and he's going to introduce me to someone who may be able to shed more light on it.

    I was just curious if it was worth anything.

    I do have a habit of saying what other people are thinking once in a while.
