    hey guys,

When you coin roll hunt, do prefer to hand sort, or use a machine? I personally prefer a machine to save time, but when I roll up my cents I just check each one to see its a wheaty or s mint.

Cazkaboom One for all, all for me.

To be honest, I don't have a machine roller, but when I hand sort, I get what is like a double check because I really love finding those Wheaties and sometimes miss them. I do that because there isn't a machine within 30 miles of me. If I had one available, I would probably prefer to use it.

I normally just hand sort them. like Cazkaboom said, i do not have a machine anywhere near me. Besides, what fun is there in haveing a machine do it?

I hand sort. I go through $100 in pennies a week. I also look through nickels, dimes, quarters, and halves.

I don't get this machine sorting stuff. Do you have a machine that has optical character recognition?

I would believe that they would just use a machine that sorts by composition...90% from clad, 36% from regular nickels, etc.

pennypanner I do almost the exact same thing as you every week... I'm thinking about getting a machine to sort copper from zinc pennies and silver from clad... I'd use it mostly for pennies cause I find about a wheat every couple of rolls and their only worth 1 or 2 cents more then coppers so no big loss.

A sorter sure would help, unless you check for erros or such. Not much for nickels though, buffalo's would stay in
