I recently received a box of nickels that were all 2011 P. I went to another bank and received another. So now I have $200 worth of OBW 2011P Nickels. I checked ebay and no one is really selling them. Well, they're available but no one is buying them anyway. I'm not sure what to do with them since I don't really have the heart to release them back into circulation but my budget was drastically reduced by having to hold onto them. I'm really at a loss here and don't know what to do with all these Nickels. Any suggestions?

    Thanks for any/all replies.

Put a couple up on eBay for $4.00 a roll. If you do not get any takers, cash em in.

Daniel, I know your pain. You feel like it would be a shame to release them into circulation because they are so nice. But just remember, there are 10's of millions that are that nice. I needed some cash a little while back and had to put many Ike dollars and SBA's back into circulation. I would bust all those open and search for errors or any of interest, save a couple OBW's and then realease the rest!
Don't worry, you will get over it!

I was thinking about doing that. Although, I haven't been able to find a source to locate the exact mintage of 2011 Nickels. Could it be as low as 2009 or is it higher? If it is indeed what you say and there are 10s of millions then I could most definately understand taking them in and not living off peanut butter and jelly sandwhichs. On the other hand if the mintage is low then they might be worth keeping. But really, is it worth the time and effort to sort through the 100 rolls or should I just dump them all?

The only site I could find was on wikipedia and it says 2011 P - 15,840,000 (through Jan) I wonder if they minted anymore or if that's all. If thats the case that's over half less then the 2009s that caught all the rave.

I say keep two random rolls and cash in the rest. Those rolls (unc'd) 20+ years from now might result in some good MS64+ coins that could much more valuable than $0.05.

bought a box of quarters that had about 7 or 8 rolls of 2009D Peurto Rico quarters. Been finding alot of thos in rolls so I just searched for errors (None found) and re wrapped em,labeled them as such and will be sending them on their way this morning when the bank opens.

15 million or 65 million, I still do not think they are worth hanging onto unless you have expendable cash and maybe you could double your money in 10 years. Sounds like Wes needs to give you a raise! As far as looking through that many, I would simply open each roll and fan them out and look for any gems that really stick out. You could plow through that box in 20 minutes.

Thanks gbroke. You are right though. I am about due for a raise. I'm not sure what to do. Maybe I will pan throught them and forget 'em. There really isn't a demand for nickels minted from the same year. I could be wrong but thats the impression I've been under.

As you can see 326.88 million 2011-P nickels minted so far through Aug 2011.
I have been able to find them locally also, but hate to send them back into circulation. Maybe you can use them for trading for other coins you need here on this site. I'm sure others would like to have at least a roll to pickout a really nice one for their collection. If they were D's, I would be happy to trade with you.

Thanks for the info paparet! I don't even know what to charge for them. If I did list them on ebay for $4 a roll after shipping and fees I'd loose money. I think gbrokes right. Just dump all that aren't gems.

What about a roll of George Washington Pres Dollars? It has his name stamped on the roll. I got it at the local gas station but the greysheet big is only a 1.25 over face.

The 2011 nickels are not rare at all. I've gotten plenty of them in circulation and they are making hundreds of millions of them. They are only worth keeping if they are slabbed at MS-67FS.
