One of my strap finds... I found 2 AU consecutive 1976 $2 bills-St. Louis FRB. It seems to me that the green seal as well as the FRB are slightly shifted up. I see this a lot, but usually not so dramatic. View attachment 140073 View attachment 140074
Judging from other posts I've read here, I'd say it's not all that minor and would fetch somewhat more than $5. How much more? I don't know. Nice catch!
I'm basing the possibility of this demanding premiums off of the matter of how many $1's and $2's I go through on a daily basis. There are plenty of $2's (especially Series 1976) that have up-shift print errors, but never this dramatic. Thats what initially caughy my eye.
Listed on eBay you might get around $20-$40 depending on how you promoted it but I would guess more on the lower end. They are very common even with that much of a shift.
10 or even 20 times face value doesn't sound too common to me... Thats for sure. Thanks for the info! :thumb:
It's a minor third shift error, but more dramatic than a slight shift. Once you have the third printing touch the second printing area, you go up in price. I would say probably around 5-10x face max and no higher.
No offense, but it doesn't have that wow factor to be a true error? I personally wouldn't pay more than x2 face in CH, but Ebay on the weekends -who knows? x50 face in VG is possible from my experiences.
It's just BARELY touching the "Washington DC" so yes it is a keeper, but don't expect to make a fortune or anything.
Well, the good thing about me, I'm not really out to make a "fortune" on this hobby I enjoy doing. It's good fun finding little things like these... Even if they won't make me a "fortune" .
