As some of you know, I live in Fremont, Ca, and they had a coin meeting last night, which I went to! :smile
I go there every summer so most people there (being old :smile)didn't remember me at first but eventually did! :smile! I was the runner for the auction and got to see all of the coins first-hand(good experience)! I saw a bunch of coins i wanted! These are just the world coins I got (I am mainly a us coin collector so this is new)!

I will get pics up tomorrow night!

Taylor, do you have the Krause catalog, Standard Catalog of World Coins? If not, I would get an older one on Ebay cheap. This is like the redbook on steroids. If you may be interested in world coins, its the first stop. Don't worry about getting an older volume, its the knowledge you are after. Read all you can, look at all the pictures you can, really absorb the knowledge. Knowledge should be the first pursuit of a youngster, (no offense meant), since you will use this the rest of your life. Prices are just relative, so if a certain date is 10 times more expensive than common then, it probably still is. I have personally known many kids with a Krause book to be able to find fantastic deals in dealer cases, since many dealers cannot be bothered to research every world coin.

When I was young I went through the redbook so thoroughly I had mintage numbers memorized, could quote verbatim grade descriptions, etc. To this day I know a lot of coins mintages off the top of my head. You can do the same with Krause, though of course its much larger. I would say if you think you might like world coins, a cheap version of Krause for the 20th century would be a fantastic present to yourself, or to ask your parents for. I know if my children get interested in US or world coins, the first opportunity I have I will get them their own coin book. They will be lucky, though, since they will have access to mine. Dang, what I wouldn't have given to have my library when I was younger. :)

My luck, they will collect comic books.
