Hey guys! So I want to make a collection of BU pennies. I want them to be in a nice, presentable format but I've head bad things about albums and pennies. I want a dansco, but I'm not sure if thats a good idea. How should these coins be stored? In mylar flips? thankye!

That's totally up to you on how you store them. A lot of people like the Dansco's. Myself, I prefer the 2x2s in a binder. More customizable, no holes for impossible coins, can remove them from the binder without handling them directly...

Well, I was thinking If I got a dansco, I'd get the blank one for pennies. So I wouldn't have holes. But I'm worried that they're going to tone. (in a bad way) Can pennies tone nicely? I don't think I've seen anything other than brown pennies.

    Welcome Nick.

I like flips, but I don't chase BU's, mostly what comes to me via circulation.

If I get one I put it in a flip 2X2.

If I change my mind I know I can put the "EXCEPTIONAL" in a plastic coffin later so it stays that way.

    But that's just me.

Certainly. Below is one. Really colorful ones, if natural, are unusual among circulated change. But I have seen some very pretty ones for much more recent years.

I put circs in albums. My uncs go in Air-Tite direct fits, then into blank half dollar albums (they fit).

    Good luck on your collection!

I prefer to use binder pages, 2x2's and airtites on the finest BU coins. Albums like Dansco are just fine, but I don't like being forced to collect something predetermined. For many years/mints I have multiple coins and binder pages allow me to collect anything I want.

Personally, I wouldn't put expensive BU coins in an album. A person has to be careful when putting them in, and diligent in terms of storage (cool, dry environment, free of contaminants). Several folks have suggested airtites and that is a good way to go. The downside is that it is an expensive way to go for low value coins. So perhaps the album for coins worth less than the holder (under $2), and use airtites as the price goes up. For more expensive key date MS coins (say over $200 in value), I'd buy them certified and leave them in the slabs, but that too is a personal preference. Plenty of folks crack out very MS expensive coins, some worth many thousands of dollars, and put them in albums, but I wouldn't do that. Yet another option is Capital Plastic holders, though they too can get pricey for low value coins. A person can occasionally find used and empty Capital holders for not that much money.

I'll check out capital holders, thanks!

Is there any kind of album at all that will be safe for my pennies?
I saw on another thread something about intercept being better than a Dansco.

If you buy airtites in bulk, they are cheap. I think the last box of 100 I bought was like $25.

Here's a sample using bind pages with 2x2's and airtites:
