    Mini milestone
The dime box I had on Friday with the Canadian mackrel ender was my 100th - 103rd US Dimes pulled from circulation. 7 of them are Mercury dimes. I also have 4 Silver Canadian.
Over two fulls rolls of silver, for some reason I don't think I could ever sell these. Too much work involved.

I went into TD Bank this weekend and had $899.50 in halves to cash in. I have never cashed in that many before so I told them what I was planning on doing and two tellers came out to help me. One was changing the bag and dumping my coins in and one was dragging them back into the office to be logged while I kept hitting Penny in the head to make her count again once the bag was changed. We got it all done very quickly and I walked away with $898.61. Either the machine was off by a couple or the boxes I bought were off. I thanked them a couple million times and now I can pick up a bunch of dime boxes this week.

Yeah, I usually play with penny while they do the bags. Makes dumping halves go twice as fast.

I also feel the same way about my silver... Too much work to let it go for anything less than $50/oz.

Erin, that is a really nice buy on the wheats. You have many options with them as described....good luck.

Well, as I had suspected, where there is smoke, there is is fire. Went back and thanked the lady at the bank and she had $100 more that she could sell me. Picked out 202 more silver dimes. 4 rolls full and 2 loose ones. Beyond shocked...:smile

Box of dimes - Dirty Skunk
Lots of them had very dirty rims which made me check quite a few of them.
Had the teller order me two more boxes for Wednesday

I found an unusual wheat penny: a degraded 1946D. Looks a lot like an O.

That's a good idea, I didn't think of that, I was too excited about the dimes. Thanks!

Did $27.50 in halves today and only got some hole fillers.

Putting a simple add for coins/collections up at the local senior center might be a more time effective method

I've got a few questions. When you search rolls of dimes do you just look at the edges or do you go through each coin? When looking for silver coins do you perfer BWR's or CWR's? And is there a way of telling that the rolls you're getting are someones dump?

I go with BWR over CWR any day of the week, I was shorted on CWR too many times and I always have to think that CWR are just someone's dumps. I never had great luck with them. Finding 180 and then 200 plus dimes in $100 lots of CWR is unheard of and just the luck of the draw. Sample some of both and make a spreadsheet and you decide.

My big dimes finds have been CWRs. I usually take all of the CWR's when looking to buy dime rolls. They are not as consistent as boxes but you probably won't find a full roll of silver in a box like we've seen posted in this thread from CWR's.

    Moon,

Have you had large scores of dimes from CWR's?

For dimes, I just look at the edge.

I prefer CWR. For halves, my average silver coins per box ($500) is 3.23. For CWR and loose (combined), my average per $500 is 23.23. Easy choice for me....I'll take CWR....and yes, sometimes they are dumps.
