Hi all, I'm new here and found this site while looking for info on this note. I got it in change today and thought it was a fake. After looking it over closer I noticed the serial #'s appear to be in the proper spot and the body of the printing appears high. The serial # on the right is actually on top of the "Washington, D.C." over the seal. It's hard to tell from the picture, but you can easily see the top border of the next note on the bottom of this one. The reverse appears normal. What do I have here and what, if anything, is it worth? Thanks for checking it out! Picture came out small here so I have included a link. http://s278.photobucket.com/albums/kk109/psi357/?action=view&current=IMG00046-20110929-1847.jpg

I don't know if it is fake or not, but it's still a nice note. Where did you find it?

You can't fake this with an uncut sheet if thats what your thinking.

That's true vdb, but you canfake it by trimming the note. Is this note the same exact size as all other notes?

I'd like to see the back of the note.

After looking at it again, I noticed that the whole third printing (serials and seals) are out of place as well. This would lend itself to the error being legitimate.

O.K. first thanks for all the help! To answer some questions, it is the same size as a modern $1 bill. I'm confident it has not been cut. And I agree, The serial numbers and seal looks to be centered. Here are some better pictures. You can see now that the serial number is overlapping the "Washington D.C." on the third pic.

I'm thinking that's a great find. You can see a very slight sliver of the top of the next note at the lower margin.
It's hard to believe it's been in the "wild" for so long. Congratulations on a really cool find.

It does have a fold mark, but all the corners are intact. To think if it was a larger denomination I might have gave it back to him. I always collected coins and like some here, am enamored with FINDING them. Hence my collection is modest. The only paper money I saved was the $2 bills my middle school gave back to us as our gym lock deposit (5 bucks and everyone received two 2's and a 1 at the end of the year).

I guarantee that this note was in someones "collection" for awhile and either times got tough or it somehow ended up in different hands. either way it's an awesome find for you!

Cool, anybody got a guess as to what it's worth? I will proudly add it to my collection but if it's worth a million, well........lol

Nice find man! I sure wish I found errors like that... All my errors are extremely minor.

I hadn't noticed the sliver of another note on this before. Thanks for pointing it out Steve!

As for value, it would fall into the minor faulty alignment category, and in the current condition, be worth approximately $60. Nice find!

Even if it wasn't an error, isn't it significantly old enough to keep just because of its age? I stash all $1's 1993 and earlier aside...
