I'm limited to Early and Middle dates, so I only have 2 for you.

    1829 N-1 and 1839 N-1.

    The 1843's are I think:

mature head, large letters - N-6. Only N-5 and N-6 for this variety.
petite head, small letters - N-3. Not really sure about this one.
petite head large letters - N-13. Only N-4 and N-13.

    1842 Large date - N-6.
    1842 Small date - N-2.

What do you make of this one? It's '93 wreath, vine & bars edge, PCGS G4. Arrived today. I think I will keep her.

All I can say is WOW!
I never knew there was so much to the old coppers.

I see that 37 was a year with several varieties...
Could I talk you into going back over to my thread where you helped me with the 1798, and take a look at the 1837 pictured with it, and determine which variety it is? It doesn't matter much, it is just in my 7070, I am not making a complete set. I am just curious.
Funny thing is that the 37 is too small for the hole in the 7070... ???

    Thanks!

Loved all three sets you put forth here.

Also, for my 7070, what year CBH would give me the best bang for the buck as a 'type' example?

I'll look it up in the late morning, if no one else answers you. Marshall and Conder and Mark are the experts at large cents but I think Marshall doesn't follow the later years.

CBH's are my favorite series. Maybe because my eyes are old and I need big coins. As for a type coin I wouldn't be picky on the year. I'd go for the look you want. There are some really special ones but they get a little pricey.

Yeah, large cents come in different sizes. Nothing wrong there. Minting was a little crude back then. It makes me nuts the way they move around in the Danco.

Sweet. I am thinking an S-8.

Good thinking, a very nice S-8 Low R-3.

This is S-8. Look closely at the edge since this and S-9 have the Chain Style vine and bars edge rather than the customary Wreath vine and bars edge. If you happen to find one with the wreath style edge, it's special.

I tried to locate the source of the vine and bars variation (Chain vs Wreath) and could not locate it.

Holy crap, lkeigwin. I always knew you were cool...but I never though you were THAT cool. :D Awesome set.

As you may know, I am also a large cent collector by-date. Someday maybe I'll be fortuate enough to finish that set, and do it as well as you have!

    Very impressive. Thanks for sharing....MikeInFL

I cannot recall off the top of my head if this variety has striking issues on the reverse, my my first thought upong seeing it was it was bent.

I didn't think I'd win this auction but I got lucky. It's an S-266, I think. Two toughies left. The 1799 and 1793 Liberty Cap.

Any grade opinions on this 1804?

AG-3, but it's hard to see the obverse die break that should be at RTY

  18. Wow! Very nice set, Lance. Something to be really proud of.:thumb:

Sweet - I can see AG-3, but would not be surprised with a G-4 grade.

Can you send it back? It's a fake. On the 1804 the gap between the terminal leaves of the wreath is between the center of the E and the serif. I'm not sure yet but I think this may be an altered 1803 S-259.

Nope, I was close, reverse of S-260.
