Here's another world coin question. I got this coin from a local dealers junk box ( I guess he considers world coins junk becuase thats all what is in the box) for a very low price . I can't read the language that this coin is written in and was wondering where it came from and what it is worth. Pictures are below. All help will be appriciated!!

Thank you for the info on where it came from and what year it is. (Its much older than I expected :smile.) Can you tell me what this type of coin would be worth in this condition?

    Thanks,

There were nearly half a billion 1957 one-yen coins made, and they are still found in circulation here in Japan. In that condition, your coin is worth about 1.25 cents :)

    Not much
    $0.01 to $0.16US
Most dealers will pay $0.03 as part of a larger junk foreign collection or usually by the pound.

If you made a nice profit on that coin, congratulations. I would loooove to sell all my older aluminum one-yen coins for multiples of the exchange rate :)
