1853 seated half dollar arrows & rays

    I have the oppurtunity to buy this for $20.00 ,Im not really into collecting seated halves but a friend of mine is selling off some of his collection. Is this atleast worth the 20.00 bucks? thank you for any help. half dollar front.jpg half dollar.jpg

    Yes even with the cleaning and rim ding that as a VF coin that is a one year type coin is a good deal IMO.

    I would buy it. $20 isn't too far from melt value so there's not much risk. Plus, as LindeDad said, it is a pretty cool half.

    I would buy that coin for $40.00. I really like the look, and the rim ding doesn't bother me.

    Your friend must be in some kind of emergency, or have never heard about the Internet, because on eBay this will go for between $50+ to $80, according to completed listings from last week.

    Agreed, that coin in 3 grades lower is still worth $20. Its a very attractive one year type.

    Alright I bought it along with a 1961 proof set for another twenty. Thank you all for your replies .
